I'm 42 female and I'm noticing that my skin under my chin is getting looser and ages me really the most of anything on my body. What kind of treatments are available for such things ? Thanks

Hello, and thank you for providing images along with your question. For your chin, you have several options, some of which are non-surgical. Chin augmentation and jaw contouring using dermal fillers are common procedures. Dermal fillers can restore lost volume in the lower face, contour the jawline to create a sharper profile, strengthen the chin, balance an asymmetrical jawline, and reduce the appearance of jowls. You may also explore PDO threads, as well as laser and energy devices to help tighten and lift the skin.

For more invasive procedures that produce more dramatic and longer-lasting results, you may consider  a mini facelift or a neck lift to rejuvenate your lower face and neck –these may be your best choices for treating signs of aging, such as slight jowl formation and mild to moderate skin laxity. To best determine the appropriate procedures for you, I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon. A combination approach would give the most improvement. Nonsurgical options such as Kybella, PDO NovaThreads, and Ultherapy do well in combination for skin tightening, but the results are mild compared to surgical options.

I would recommend a VASER Hi-Definition Liposuction with ThermiRF, Renuvion (J Plasma) and InMode BodyTite to contour and tighten the chin and neck. Just based on the photos, your neck issue appears to be a combination of skin texture, lack of fat, and excess skin. As a board certified plastic surgeon, I often hear concerns like yours when I consult with my neck-and facelift patients. There are minimally invasive approaches to deal with the skin texture such as microneedling with radiofrequency, which can be performed in a treatment room, as it is not a surgical procedure and there is little to no downtime. To address the excess of skin, a neck lift would be helpful. This is a surgical procedure that removes the excess skin and resuspends the remaining tissue, giving you a smoother neck and sharper jawline. I hide the incisions behind the ear so that no telltale signs of surgery show, and the downtime would only be about 1 week. I recommend you consult in person with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and expectations and to determine which treatments or surgeries would be right for you.

It would be helpful to have a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles to make a determination about how best to proceed. In our practice, a neck lift only accomplishes removal of fat deposits above and below the platysma muscle in addition to a platysma-plasty. When there's loose skin  in the neck, lower face and neck lift is going to be required.
