I had a neck lift (and lower face) which included the muscles not just skin and a year after my neck looks awful. I’ve spoken with doctor who says it’s because of thin skin. I also had lipo under neck and from the beginning my neck felt “stringy” and weird. Is it worth it to try a redo?
Answer: A year after failed Neck Lift - is a revision worth it? (photos) Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. It appears that your middle of the neck muscle repair failed and would need to be redone in addition to overresection of the fat in the area. You may also benefit from a reduction in the submandibular glands on both sideband possible redo of the lower facelift.

Answer: Revision neck lift The answer is “yes” – depending on the surgeon who would perform the redo: experience is key when it comes to revision surgery, because you now possess a substantial amount of scar tissue as well as an altered lower-face and neck anatomy. It makes the surgery more involved than a primary lower-face and neck lift. When I perform revision facelifting or neck lifting, there are times when transplantation of fat comes into play since some (prior) surgeons are overly zealous with fat removal, and some degree (layer) of fat is needed to hide platysmal bands, possibly what you are referring to when you use the word “stringy.” While many different factors contribute to how long surgical results last, you should under normal life circumstances still look great one year postop.

Answer: Revision of neck/face lift Considering appearance of your neck and jawline, I do believe it is worth of revision, secondary face/neck lift. You should be at least one year after first surgery. In person consultation with at least two board certified plastic surgeons, experts in face/neck lift surgery, is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Revision It is worthwhile to do a revision on the face and neck and it would be nice to know what was done before. I would consider a deep plane lift with medial neck muscle treatment if it has not been done.

Answer: Non-Surgical Face Lift / Skin Resurfacing with Renuvion/J-Plasma -- add Lasers, Microneedling/PRP, Ultherapy, FaceTite In our practice, we perform a non-surgical face lift / skin resurfacing treatment using Renuvion Helium Plasma Radiofrequency. To get the most improvement with skin tightening, we combine Renuvion (formerly J-Plasma) with lasers (Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant, CO2), microneedling/PRP, Ultherapy and InMode FaceTite. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
