A mole was removed on the top of my nose and it has left a significant sized divot/scar. I am extremely upset as this I feel bad ruined the overall experience of my face. I'm wondering if a geometric line excision and closure would be something that would remove the divot. Or would a rhinoplasty help? I have a consultation with a doctor in my area but desperately searching for answers!! There is no more scabbing just skin. You can see and feel the significant divot.

Answer: Scar on Nose | Ask Dr. Raggio It sounds like you have had a bad experience with this, and I am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this scar is in a tricky area, in that it is relatively difficult to correct due to is convex nature, skin thickness, and size as well. With that being said, you have options ranging from relatively non-invasive, such as skin resurfacing (e.g., dermabrasion, laser resurfacing), versus scar revision wherein the existing scar is excised and replaced with either native tissue (e.g., local flaps), or tissue from the cheek (melolabial interpolated flap), forehead flap, or with a skin graft from another part of the body (likely in front of the ear). I would recommend consultation with a surgeon experienced in all these modalities (e.g., board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon), so that they can give you an expert and unbiased opinion. I hope this helps! Best of luck. Blake Raggio, MD
