Can I get a filler to lift up the tip of my nose?

Question

I like my nose! But my septum hangs a bit lower and would prefer it to be more button like. Is there a filler to lift up just the tip? What would the side effects be? What can be the estimated cost?

Thank you for your question. At our practice we use dermal fillers to perform what we call a nose lift, designed to lift the tip of the nose. Dermal fillers are placed between the medial crura. This technique is similar to that used in a traditional rhinoplasty, where grafts are used to support the tip of the nose. In this case, fillers act as the support. The result is pleasant, especially when you smile.Common side effects of any procedure with dermal fillers are bruising, swelling and pain. It's important to see a skilled provider for non-surgical nose jobs, as vascular occlusion is an uncommon, but dangerous possibility. Of course, you will need an in-office consultation with an experienced injector to determine if this treatment is the best option for you. Prices vary.

Thank you for your question. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over your desired results. Facial fillers like Voluma, Restylane, and Juvederm along with Botox can be used to improve the symmetry of the nose and lift the tip; however, it won't make the nose appear smaller. Surgery would be needed to improve the nostrils or overall shape. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty is wonderful technique to camouflage irregularities, dents, humps, and bumps of the nose, and it can be performed multiple times. Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry, shape and profile. You can bring photos of noses that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed. When you meet with a facial plastic surgeon, he or she will consider your nose in balance with your other features and can over the cost of the procedure. I hope this helps.

A non-surgical nose job (also called a liquid rhinoplasty) is a nonsurgical alternative to rhinoplasty surgery that is performed in the office using injections. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and can be done in the office with topical anesthesia. The results are visible immediately after the procedure, and there is essentially no downtime. This can be a fantastic procedure with many advantages, and a few disadvantages to rhinoplasty surgery. There is minimal downtime and reduced cost with this options, however the results are not permanent (they last about a year) and surgery may be prohibited for a period of time following non surgical nose job. Non surgical nose job does not help with nasal breathing or nasal injuries.Be sure to trust your care to a specialist in best of luck to you.

Lifting the tip of the nose is sometimes referred to as tip rotation.  Injections of small amounts of dermal filler can make a big difference in this area, usually just at the tip or under it for a tiny lift.  Filler can be placed in the columella to act sort of as a splint to prop up the nose or it can be placed in the in the alar rims (outer edges of the nostril) to disguise a prominent columella.  Sometimes a little botox/xeomin/dysport to the depressor septi nasi muscle will lift the tip as well.
Non surgical nose jobs can be tricky to do so be sure you go to someone who has experience injecting noses. This is not a treatment for a new injector!  The nose is also a relatively high risk area as well--there can be more complications.  Yet another reason to find a competent injector well versed in the treatment of noses.  Having said that it is pretty amazing what a small amount of well placed filler can do for the nose.  Hope this is useful info for you!

Yes, filler is highly effective in lifting the tip of the nose.  Far less than one syringe would be needed, perhaps 1/10 of a syringe.  I use Restylane Lyft.  The only potential risk is for intravascular occlusion, which can be devastating.  A reversible product should always be used for this reason.
