I find that my nose is uneven and my eyes are completely lopsided. To me, it is extremely noticeable in photos. Is it as noticeable to others? I had eyelid lift surgery as a child for a sagging eyelid. Now, anxiety over my lopsided face is bothering me. Im even considering seeking surgery, but people in my life insist its not noticeable.

Answer: Rhinoplasty evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. Asymmetry is quite normal, and I would recommend a consultation with a board-certified ophthalmologist for any concerns about the appearance of your eyes, especially if it interferes with your vision. In terms of your nose, although an exam in person is ideal, from your photographs alone it appears that there is some slight unevenness at the nasal tip, specifically some bulbosity and alar asymmetry. If this is a significant concern for you, you may benefit from a tip rhinoplasty where the nasal tip cartilage is modified for a more refined look. The modification of your nasal cartilage can be done with suture techniques, resection or cartilage grafting. If your septum is deviated and you have breathing difficulty, a septoplasty may benefit you as well. The next step for you is to find the right aesthetic plastic surgeon. In your rhinoplasty consultation, be sure your surgeon addresses all your aesthetic goals and concerns specifically, and discusses the surgery details including the position and size of the incisions used (with actual photographs and not just digital animations), the risks and benefits of the procedure, recovery time, and post-operative course. Also, be sure to see plenty of before-and-after pictures in women who have a similar nose appearance to yours, and preferably at different time frames (3 weeks out, 3 months out, etc) to more accurately predict your own surgical outcome. After seeking out a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery, I think the most important component of the consultation is to establish a good connection with your plastic surgeon. It’s the connection that allows you to clearly define your desired nose outcome goals, the first step of this whole process. If you don’t feel you have a good connection with your plastic surgeon after your consultation, he/she may not be the best surgeon for you. Answer: Thanks for your question and photos. It appears from your photos that you may have strabismus (in lay terms, slightly "cross-eyed"). Your childhoodd surgery was wither to correct this, or ptosis (eyelid drooping). Your best bet is to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist who is familiar with the condition. Like many specialties, there are subspecialties and not all ophthalmologists are well versed with correction of strabismus, which relates to the proper and blanked function of the many eye muscles that control the movement of our eyes. With regard to your nose and other facial features., please consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon who can address your concerns and make possible recommendations. Best of luck to you.
