As I had a very bulbous tip and slight droop. As soon as my cast had been taken off I noticed a difference but 5 months on and it looks exactly the same as it did before the surgery. I know it swells up but will it still be swollen after 5 months? I cannot see much difference or change :(
Answer: Healing Post Rhinoplasty Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your recent rhinoplasty. I understand it can be difficult to be patient while your body heals, however do remember that your nose will take up to 1 year to fully heal. You very likely still have swelling and your nose, especially your tip, will continue to refine over the next several months. Since you are experiencing about your results, I recommend following up with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. He/she will want to help you through the post-operative process and be kept apprised of your feelings about the procedure. After the 1-year mark, if you are still not happy with your results, you can consider a revision procedure. Best of luck, Dr. Kian

Answer: Rhinoplasty recovery You are still early in your recovery period and the nose is expected to be quite swollen at this point. The swelling during this time is rarely symmetric. One side will always resolve more quickly than the other. The majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 months, and will continue to resolve as your nose heals for up to 1-2 years. You have not reached your final shape as the nose will continue to heal and reduce in size for up to a year. Once it does reach its final shape you may be more pleased with the appearance of your nose.

Answer: 5-weeks post-op? Rhinoplasty Results You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose take the time to heal. I hope this helps.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Results You have to give yourself some more healing time. Your nose and surrounding areas are going to be swollen for a while and you should be consulting the surgeon that performed the procedure. However, give yourself some time before going back in so some of it can subside. It can take up to a year for final results. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty recovery Everyone's healing times are different. It is not unusual to see a bit more swelling after the dressings are removed. Often thick skin takes longer to settle and slim than thin skin. The rate of swelling resolution varies too and depends on what you had done. Swelling of the tip at 5 months is not unusual. It takes 12 to 18 months to settle usually.
