40 with no children, set to have a Labiaplasty surgery with clitorial hood reduction. Will I lose sensation?

Among the hundreds of labiaplasty and hood reduction surgeries that I’ve performed, I don’t have any patients that have changes or loss of sensation. If anything, I hear more reports of improved sensation and improved sexual response after labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction. Sometimes the excess tissues are source of pain with intercourse due to chafing, pulling, and pinching. A labiaplasty relieves pain from these issues and also is empowering by reducing self consciousness for women to feel more comfortable with their sexual response. Best to find an expert surgeon so that your results are exceptional before and after photos, videos and reviews are the best way there.

Hello, thank you for your question. So reducing the outer labia and the clitoral hood if performed properly will not reduce sensation. Its important you find a plastic surgeon who has experience with these surgeries and see if you feel comfortable to express your concerns.

Based on what you are describing, you appear to have enlarged and elongated inner lips (labia minora). I would recommend a Labiaplasty procedure in order to reduce the length and the width of your labia minora which will help achieve the look you desire. It will also make wearing tight clothes more comfortable.
During clitoral hood reduction, excess folds of the clitoral hood can be removed to create a more balanced appearance of female genitalia. However, not everyone is a candidate for this procedure.
I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified plastic surgeon specializing in Labiaplasty to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations.

Thank you for your question. although its minimal chance, every surgery has risks. However, most labiaplasty surgeries are performed safely and are highly unlikely to cause loss of sensation. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, labiaplasty surgery will not negatively impact sensation. Best wishes.

Labiaplasties with clitoral hood reductions rarely result in a loss of sensation near the clitoris.
Please visit with either a plastic surgeon or a urogynecologist in your area who performs many of these procedures. Ask to see pictures and maybe even speak with some of their patients.
the nerve to the clitoris is quite deep and should not be injured if the procedure is done properly.

You will lose sensation if your labiaplasty damages the clitoral nerves. This can only happen if your surgeon is not an expert in labiaplasty and doesn't know the anatomy. Make sure your surgeon is in expert in labiaplasty and hood contouring and just an expert in other cosmetic procedures. Your clitoris will be exposed if too much skin is removed from the area around the head of the clitoris. This too can only happen if your surgeon is not an expert. If you want to explain exactly what you want, take a photo of the area and share it with your surgeon and discuss.

Why didn't you share your concerns with the surgeon for whom you planned your surgery? The purpose of a correctly performed labiaplasty and hoodoplasty is to achieve a natural appearance without loss of sensation. Be sure to tell your surgeon what you want and your concerns before the operation. Or you may be unhappy.
