I have paralysis from first Kybella treatment, won't be continuing Kybella but instead would like to try Ultherapy under the chin. I've had the paralysis for about one month now. Do I need to wait until paralysis is completely gone to have this procedure or can I go ahead w/out delay? Thank you for your time in answering my question, this is an incredibly helpful website :))
Answer: Can you perform Ultherapy after Kybella complication? One must wait for complete recovery of the marginal mandibular nerve palsy after Kybella before embarking on further treatment. I would highly recommend an ultrasound exam to confirm the location of the fat with respect to platysma. If the fat is below the platysma muscle you will need surgical approach and not Ultherapy. One of the rare complications of Ultherapy in that region is also marginal mandibular nerve palsy and therefore see an experienced physician.

Answer: Wait or not Yes it's best to wait to make sure the nerve recovers before you add another treatment to the mix. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: Ultherapy following Kybella marginal mandibular nerve injury Hello and thanks for posting. There is no question that you should wait until the muscle weakness completely resolves before you have an Ultherapy treatment. One of the potential complications of Ultherapy is also injuring the marginal mandibular nerve which is presumably what happened after your Kybella session. This is a rare complication after Ultherapy, but the practitioner needs to know your history and carefully avoid a “replay” of this problem. Good luck!

Answer: Ultherapy after Kybella Complication I am sorry to hear about your complication after injection of Kybell!I assume it is your lower lip that is not moving normally on one (or both?) sides. I would certainly want to await full recovery of your paralysis before entertaining another treatment such as Ultherapy. This treatment uses high intensity focused ultrasound for its face and neck toning treatments. Theoretically, it could interfer with your body's quest in healing after Kybella treatment. Best of luck

Answer: Kybella and mandibular nerve injury and Ulthera? Hello barneyjim92,Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. I am assuming you are referring to a marginal mandibular nerve injury from the Kybella? Rest assured this will resolve itself in that there are to best of my knowledge no "permanent" nerve injuries reported after Kybella. Typically resolution is within 6-7 weeks. Personally I would wait until this resolves before initiating Ultherapy treatments.
