How long after ultherapy can I get a vi peel?

Question

I've read that you can do any type of peel or microdermabrasion a couple days after ultherapy, but most peels post care cream have hydrocortisone in them, would that effect the outcome of utherapy since it's an anti inflammatory? Is benadryl ok to take after ultherapy?

Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to visualize the deeper tissues under the skin to tighten the skin.  It doesn't have any effect on the surface.  In my practice, we allow skin treatments immediately after an ultherapy treatment on the same day.

Hello and thank you for your question!  We typically ask our patients to wait 2 weeks after Ultherapy before any other type of facial procedures.  However, you are certainly able to have a Vi Peel even one week post Ulthera.  The topical creams you will apply after the peel are superficial and will not effect the results of your ultherapy procedure, which is at a much deeper layer.  And you may also use Benadryl as needed. I haven't heard of any need to wait for a Vi Peel after Ultherapy. The Vi Peel is superficial in the skin and the products will not affect the deeper treated levels from the ultherapy.

I would recommend waiting a week to our patients.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified.  I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Hello Oyster Bay,Thank you for your question. You do not have to be concerned using post peel creams that have a small amount of hydrocortisone in them because they work very superficially on the skin and not down into the deeper tissue layers that Ulterapy treats. Yes Benadryl is ok as well.
