Each different hospital or surgery center is going to have different parameters on what they recommend, so it's best to talk to your operative surgeon. As long as patients are in good health, and are not taking any medications, no blood work is necessary in our practice.
Routine blood work for a healthy patient undergoing a septoplasty is typically a CBS with Platelets. Anesthesia guidelines, age of the patient, other medical conditions, medications taken by prescription and surgical history may suggest other routine tests also. Cardiology and pulmonary history may indicate the need for an EKG or chest x-ray, but this is not routine for healthy patients under 50 years. Check with your surgeon about local hospital and anesthesia guidelines for additional information.
