Excess skin from the abdomen can be removed a number of different ways, but the standard full tummy tuck is the best for most cases. Mini tummy tucks usually leave a disappointing result and few patients are actually good candidate for the procedure.
If you have loose skin with stretch marks, then the best option is to remove the skin by way of tummy tuck or mini-tummy tuck. Please consult with an experienced plastic surgeon to see which procedure is best for you. The scar is typically worth the improved contour that you will achieve from the tummy tuck.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno
No. Skin removal requires an incision. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of tummy tucks each year. Look for great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for the question. To best help you, a physical examination or picture evaluation is required in order to determine which procedures and techniques would be best for your case.Dr. Campos
Unfortunately excess skin can only be removed by making an incision. Non-surgical skin tightening techniques like Protégé (a radio-frequency energy source) can improve some skin wrinkling or very mild laxity, but cannot remove excess skin.If the excess skin bothers you enough to want to do something about it, Iwould suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board ofPlastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for AestheticPlastic Surgery that you trust and are comfortable with anddiscuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
Despite all of our modern technology, there is still no way to eliminate loose excess skin without a scar. Speak to your surgeon about which technique (full tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck) is best for you. The scars can be easily hidden beneath your bathing suit bottom or underwear.
Thank you for your question. There is no way to get rid of extra skin without cutting it out. Technology for skin shrinkage or tightening has been disappointing thus far. You can remove excess skin with the same incision you use in a tummy tuck but without manipulating the abdominal muscles. This is known as a panniculectomy. The length of the scar is typically the same as a TT or Mini TT, but there is not as much improvement of abdominal wall contour. Most plastic surgeons would consider it a bad idea, and would recommend an abdominoplasty. I hope this was helpful.
Thank you for your pictures. It sounds like he had several seromas. Drains are necessary after abdominoplasty due to the accumulation of fluid. Your seroma placed pressure on your incision and caused it's breakdown. At this point you'll have to have a debridement of all the unhealthy tissue at...
Thanks for the question. You should wait 1-2 months because your operation area trying to get healed. Then after yes you can do smoke and drink. I wish you all the best.
Having an elective procedure is a choice a patient makes. It is not "medically necessary".. I would discuss it with your HR department, and possibly consider using your vacation time instead- for your elective surgery
Hello! Thank you for your question and photos. It does appear more as an abscess vs a seroma cavity. Incision & drainage of the abscess as well as local wound care/packing are certainly appropriate treatments. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon for an...
Most patients still have difficulty standing straight a few weeks into the post-operative period. It is not a bad idea to try and stretch out as best you can, as long as you do things slowly. Everyone heals differently, but usually by six weeks most patients are doing pretty well....
This is an area of controversy in plastic surgery. Many do advocate massage, especially lymphatic drainage massage but there is little scientific evidence that it has any benefit. Same goes with ultrasound, some reports but no hard scientific evidence that it helps. Your...
