Volbella in tear troughs - Jan. 9, 2018 Delayed immune response in eye area - Sep. 20, 2018 9/25-10/2: 2 rounds of Pred., 1 course of Minocycline (Pred. helped but flared up worse once it ended) Fillers dissolved - 10/9, 10/29, 11/1, 11/5 (last 2 with Kenalog) What is this redness/swelling under my eyes and will it ever go away? What can be done to fix?
Answer: Tear troughs Thank you for the question. If you have had a delayed immune reaction to injectable filler then the redness and swelling can be part of this inflammation. I am sorry to hear that you have had this rare reaction. The key is to settle down the inflammation. It would be best to consult your treating doctor who can use anti-inflammatories to calm down the inflammation. A vascular laser may also help eliminate redness in the area but you must see an expert who is very experienced operating lasers around the eyes in order to protect your eyes from any laser damage. I hope this helps.

Answer: Tear Trough and Reaction It appears that you still have a reaction or filler in the tear trough area. It appears that it will take more time for the filler or reaction to subside. I would consider having more Vitrase injected to dissolve what is still likely there. Please consult an expert in the under eye area and Volbella. In the future Restylane or Belotero is better for this delicate under eye area. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Persistent redness and swelling under eyes after delayed reaction to Volbella You are an excellent historian! The history you give confirms that you are dealing with residual inflammation from the (uncommon) delayed hypersensitivity reaction you had. Take heart...it is very likely that the redness and swelling WILL go away....eventually. If it does not go away fast enough for some important events coming up with the holidays, you can likely ask your provider for a prescription for Mirvaso (brimonidine) or FML (ophthalmic fluoromethalone) to help, temporarily, reduce the redness. I hope that is helpful to you, and that it resolves very soon!

Answer: The typical side effects associated with hyaluronic acid injections such as Restylane or Juvederm include bruising, redness, swe Thank you for your question! The typical side effects associated with hyaluronic acid injections such as Restylane or Juvederm include bruising, redness, swelling and pain. These occur in as high as 90% of patients and usually resolve within one week. It is possible that some of these side effects may be affected by the injection techniques such as fan like injections, higher injection volumes, and more rapid injection times. I always recommend waiting at least one to two weeks for the swelling to go down after the treatment before worrying about any long-term adverse effects or considering any "touch-up" treatments such as additional filler injections or reversing the treatment using hyaluronidase. Also, no massaging the areas or you can make the swelling worse! Best of luck!
