Can I take zinc lozenges and emergen-c a week before surgery? Or airborne?

Patients on the mend from a minor called generally are not canceled for elective surgery. This is a decision the needs to be made by your surgeon and anesthesiologist however.

is certainly admirable and it certainly doesn't hurt to take those products.  BUT if you still have any signs of a cold the day prior to your procedure, its in your best interest to cancel and reschedule.  No surgeon will want to be doing an elective procedure on someone obviously sick.  You should be at your best when having elective procedures.

I think airborne would be ok, but I am not your surgeon.  Every surgeon has their own guidleines.  It si best to call his/her office and get their feedback.

Best thing would be to frequently wash your hands and limit touching your face to avoid getting sick prior to your surgery. I do not think emergen-c or zinc would be an issue but I would recommend checking with your plastic surgeon about any medications before surgery.  

It is my pleasure to answer your question. I recommend you to call your plastic surgeon and talk about any medication in the pre op period. I only prescribe my patients Iron before surgery. 

Having a cold before surgery can possibly make it more difficult in recovery  if you have a cough, that can be a big issue with tightened abdomen. If you have a fever, it can mask infection. Taking lozenges will not make viral respiratory go away faster. Better contact your PS ASAP. 

I can't imagine it would be a problem but why are you not asking your surgeon. Nothing any of say matters unless we are the surgeon.
