I got this scar years ago, I live in Toronto and have Ontario health insurance (govt) plus employer health insurance but I highly doubt this kind of fix would be cleared and I want to know if this can be done by chemical peels creams, if not what would be the best treatment for this?
Answer: Resurfx laser paired with a chemical peel such as TCA can help even out skin texture and tone Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Chemical Peel Thank you for your question. The over the counter creams will not be an effective treatment option for your scar. The chemical peel is offered at several different strengths to address different issues. A mild chemical pool can deal with scarring, deeper wrinkling and uneven skin color. I suggest that you move forward and consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover cosmetic treatments and procedures. Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover cosmetic treatments and procedures. Creams and at home remedies would not remove your scar. I would suggest you to avoid any at home remedies to avoid further complications and pigmentation. Make an appointment with your local dermatologist to get adequate treatment. Chemical peels can be effective in minimizing scars and spots. Another solution for you would be laser. I can see Fraxel or Picosure laser working better on your scar than Chemical peel. Best of luck!

Answer: Chemical peels can minimize the appearance of scars, but will probably not eliminate yours. You might benefit from other med spa therapies, such as laser treatment. You are correct that insurance generally does not cover cosmetic procedures except under very specific circumstances. Using creams and home remedies will not help to diminish your scar and could, in fact, make it worse by darkening it. Book a consultation with a reputable medical spa to find out which procedure or procedures would work best.
