I had two C-sections and have some lose skin right over the scar. I want a mini tummy tuck. The estimate I was given over the phone was between $7,500 and $8,500. I live in Houston, TX. I thought it was a bit pricy. Am I wrong?

Answer: Estimated cost for a mini tummy tuck $7,500 - $8,500. I live in Houston, TX. Reasonable? Hello, and thank-you for your question. The cost of a tummy tuck generally varies depending on the extent of surgery (mini, full, extended tummy-tuck, amount of liposuction required), operative time and geographic location. You can see average prices in your area under the cost tab of the procedure pages on RealSelf. Take a look at the attached web reference for our prices. When comparing prices for plastic surgical procedures it is important to compare quotes that reflect the total cost:1. The quote needs to include the cost of the procedure, pre-op and post-op care, supplies such as garments, cost of the surgical facility and anesthesiologist, and cost of over night stay if required.2. Board certified MD, Nurse anesthetist, ect)3. Qualifications of the Surgeon.Be careful of what appears to be a bargain. You are considering an elective surgical procedure, but be aware that it is your body and your health. Look for value rather than price. I would recommend a board certified plastic surgeon with a lot of experience in body contouring. Best of luck!Andrew Lyos, MD, FACS

Answer: Cost for a mini TT? The price is dependent on many factors - is it a mini, full or extended abdominoplasty such as a fleur de lis pattern where redundant skin is removed from the center as well as the bottom of the abdomen? Is it skin only or does it include tightening of the muscles? Will Liposuction also be necessary? Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay or in an independent out-patient facility? Will a surgical assistant be needed? Will a board-certified anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist be used? Will an (anti) pain pump be used? All of these factors influence the cost. In Orange County, the estimated range is $7000- $15,000+ depending on the variables above.
