Type 1 Diabetes, Lipohypertrophy & Prior Clot and Sickle Cell - is liposuction contouring a safe option?

Thoughtful119826Jan 11, 2026

I have long-standing Type 1 diabetes with lipohypertrophy and insulin-altered subcutaneous tissue. My goal is to achieve the flattest and smoothest abdomen that is medically and anatomically realistic, understanding that visceral fat and muscle laxity are separate issues. I am specifically asking whether surgeons with experience in complex tissue cases consider procedures like VASER combined with skin tightening appropriate in patients like me, and what limits I should realistically expect. I also have an underlying blood disorder and a previous history of clotting, so I’m aware that any surgical intervention would require careful risk assessment and haematology involvement. My question is about whether surgeons experienced in higher-risk patients ever consider abdominal contouring appropriate in cases like mine, and under what condition.
