Tummy tuck revision - can I lower the tummy tuck scar?

Hello dear @Runmummy1 The scar can be made lower and from there tense the skin to lower the scar. Also if you want to diminish the scar through non-surgical treatments to manage a scar process. Technologies: laser, fixer, in other products, substances, compressive attachments. Keep in mind that the healing process takes from 9 to 12 months and from that perspective and follow doctor recommendations. Best wishes!

Yes the scar can be lowered. Simply remove skin below where the scar currently is. You probably will only be able to lower it about an inch.

Yes, in theory the scar can be lowered in this way, however, it depends on the laxity of skin in this area and you will probably have to lift up the skin above the existing scar to some degree to allow the skin to slide down to its new position. Its difficult to answer this question with certainty unless a surgeon can examine you.

Without showing pictures you’re not going to get a good assessment.

To successfully lower the scar any significant amount requires redoing the tummy tuck.

In order for the skin to be moved down to the new scar position requires separating the skin and fat layer from the muscle wall all the way up to the rib cage.

Simply pulling on the skin is insufficient. It requires separating the tissue layers.

I suggest scheduling in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons or your previous surgeon to get an assessment and better understanding of what can or cannot be accomplished.

Redoing the tummy tuck does not need to include muscle tightening and that is typically the part of the procedure that causes the intense pain after.

Doing a skin only tummy tuck or tummy tuck revision is a far easier recovery than the primary procedure which most likely included muscle tightening.

Without muscle tightening a tummy tuck recovery is pretty easy though it typically requires drains.

These are all things you need to discuss during in person visits.

Fairly easy to lower the MIDDLE of the scar months after surgery. However, at the "X" point, there is not as much laxity of the skin above the scar, because that is getting to the flank area. I would not have the entire scar removed just to try to change the X point. That could be done just at the sides, and maybe get it a little lower, probably just about an inch or so. Good luck!
