Will a tummy tuck revision fix this? How did this happen? (photos)

Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. You obviously have some loose skin on your hips. This can be removed but requires extending the scars. It can be done under local anesthesia. I think if it bothers you it's worth doing.

The typical trap of an inexperienced surgeon - not extending the incision laterally enough to correct potential dog ear forming. Only surgery can fix.

Your results can probably be improved by extending the incision further. That is often the case for many patients.

Your pictures are a little less than adequate to make a good assessment and we really should have a complete set of plastic surgeon taken before and after pictures to judge results.

If you don’t have a complete set a before and after pictures you should ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took.

For example in one of your pictures your undergarments are cutting into your waist line creating a bulge above the panty line.

To get an accurate assessment I suggest scheduling in person consultations with other local board-certified plastic surgeons.

I personally treat the entire torso when I do liposuction in order to leave people with an even natural fat distribution. Partially treating the torso tends to leave people with an unnatural fat distribution.

It’s hard to tell from your pictures but there appears to be an unnatural fat distribution transition from your waist to your back. Like I said, it’s easy to sit and judge others from the comfort of your home looking at the computer but each surgeon typically does the best they can and most do a pretty good job.

It appears you have some horizontal skin laxity that is not corrected with a standard tummy tuck. Some individuals with both vertical and horizontal skin laxity may require a fleur-de-lis pattern with a separate vertical scar. I personally try to avoid this approach whenever possible because the scar is pretty visible.

Your best approach is to schedule in person consultations at which time you can go over every part of your body and the provider can tell you what can or cannot be done to improve it.
