I am looking into getting a skinny BBL within the next 6 months, however, over the past 2-3 years I have had 3 sessions of hyaluronic acid fillers in my butt. I'd love to know whether it is safe to go ahead with BBL whilst the filler is present and what complications (if any) it could cause. I considered having the filler dissolved however the surgeon who performed them is not comfortable dissolving them due to possible permanent tissue loss. Is there a way around this? Thank you

Answer: HELLO DEAR. IM DR. DIAZ !! NOT . I do not recommend any type of procedure until you have that component, if it is degradable, it is better to wait until it dissolves and there is nothing left. If not. I do not recommend any type of intervention in this way.

Answer: BBL with HA filler Each plastic surgeon will have their own review on this. Personally I see no real issue with doing a BBL with HA fillers in place. HA fillers are generally too expensive for providers or patients to be able to add significant volume. It would be helpful if you could include how much filler it was injected. Considering the most HA fillers or at least $500 per milliliter and serious gluteal augmentation generally requires a few hundred milliliters. HA fillers are usually cost prohibitive for any serious gluteal augmentation. If you have a significant amount of HA in your buttocks then you may lose some volume overtime it. This generally happens after fat transfer anyway so it really shouldn’t make much difference. Delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. The number of providers who do this procedure well on a regular basis is relatively limited. Without including pictures we can’t begin to make an assessment. I suggest scheduling multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have experience with the BBL procedure. For low BMI patients who have limited body fat multiple areas may need to be included with a Liposuction treatment to get sufficient amounts of fat to justify the procedure. In the end some patience simply don’t have enough fat to justify having Liposuction of their entire tour so arms and thighs for a small amount of improvement. Plastic surgeons will vary in their skill and ability to assess how much fat can be harvested and who is or is not candidate. Start by having five in person consultations and consider scheduling more if needed. During each consultation ask providers to show you before and after pictures of the previous patient to a very similar body characteristics to your own. Make sure after pictures were taken a minimum of 3 to 6 months from the date of the procedure. Early after pictures from fat transfer procedures can look very impressive but do not represent final results. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
