I am having a revision rhinoplasty and would like to have a facelift at the same time. However, the procedures would be performed by different surgeons (specialised in each procedure). My concern is if both procedures are complex if doing them together is the best approach. I would like to avoid two separate recovery periods, but want to have the best outcome. Alternatively, how soon after the rhinoplasty would it be reasonable to have the facial surgery? Thank you

Answer: Facelift and Rhinoplasty? Hello and thank you for your question. This is a very common question that I get from my patients. How much surgery is too much in one day? In my practice, it is very common for me to perform multiple procedures in the same day including a deep plane facelift and rhinoplasty. The main benefit, as you stated, is having only one recovery period. In your situation with two different surgeons it becomes tricky. It is generally best to avoid prolonged periods of anesthesia. Many surgeons have widely varying operative times for each procedure so it would be important to ask each of them how long their portion of the surgery would take. Typically, surgeons that specialize in these procedures and have more experience will be able to perform both surgeries in a reasonable amount of time. However, there are always exceptions to this. Another potential benefit is the overall cost of surgery can sometimes be less if doing both procedures at the same time rather than staging them. I would encourage you to schedule multiple in person or virtual consultations with surgeons who specialize in facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty procedures. You should feel 100% confident when picking a surgeon to meet your aesthetic goals. Good luck!

Answer: Cooperative surgeons should allow you when operation and when recovery As long as you are in good health and have no contraindications, here should be no reason that you cannot have your facelift and a revision rhinoplasty performed at the same time. The key would be to have the surgeons coordinate their operative schedules to meet your request. Surgery less than six hours long has fewer complications associated with it and so you could speak to the two surgeons to be sure that they could complete their part, combined, in that timeframe. As long as you’re a healthy person, it shouldn’t be any problem to complete these separate operations at the same time.
