Most microneedling RF devices obtain similar results in experienced hands, particularly in the face, where capability to penetrate deeply is not important as it is on the abdomen or arms. The person using the device is important (it is the archer, not the arrow), though there are some differences in both intensity and pain. Having said that, the machines are more impressive for helping other than ice pick scars.

Hi, Thanks for your question and and pictures. There are several options including microneedling/ Radiogrequency and laser C02/Erbium.

In my opinion, most of the Microneedling RF systems work equally. It's the physician that is operating the device that is most important. I particularly like the Lutronic system ( Genius or Infini) for milder cases and The Candella Profound for deeper cases. In your case pretreatment with TCA cross may be of some benefit. Find a scar expert.

Admittedly, a bit difficult to determine from the photos provided, but there appear to be quite a few ice pick scars on both cheeks. If this is indeed so, then TCA CROSS, a relatively inexpensive technique that has a greater than two decades track record for safety and efficacy (in all skin types) for ice pick scars and dilated pores would be a very appropriate option. If necessary, following this, professionally performed manual or electric microneedling might be used should it be necessary to better blend with the surrounding normal skin any residual, superficial pigmentary or textural irregularities. The addition of RF has not been proven additionally useful by any truly hard science (despite the social media influencers and heavy device manufacturer marketing hype) to promote its use. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and be cautious about suggesting any particular treatments; you might just get what you ask for. Great question. When it comes to microneedling RF the device can be a big factor in order to get the proper results. All the devices that you mentioned are great devices. We use Pixel8 which can be superior to many of the RF devices in our practice. With 3 to 4 treatment you should improve the scars tremendously.
