I have lost over 80 pounds but I still have this apron belly that I desperately want to get rid of, as well as get some fat transferred in my hips (more of an hourglass shape). I have had a huge apron belly before so my skin did fairly well for what it is honestly, but the lose skin is noticeable. I don’t want a tummy tuck as I’m 27 and want to have kids in the next 5 years. My question is, would I be suitable for lipo without a tuck? I don’t expect an airbrushed perfect tummy at all, but would liposuction on its own provide significant visual benefits or is my skin too lose for that? So far I feel like my skin has done good and I don’t mind it too much, but I’m wondering if the last bits of fats were removed, would the skin sag suddenly and exponentially get worse? Thanks a lot!

Answer: Depends On Skin Quality With regards to liposuction after weight loss. It really depends on your skin quality. Unfortunately after losing 80 pounds most patients will need skin excision in the form of a formal abdominoplasty. You may also benefit it from liposuction as well as fat transfer to certain areas. Just depends on what your individual goals are. More information can be provided with a virtual or in person consultation.

Answer: RE: lipo without a tuck? Hello, this is Dr. Hong from Fresh Clinic in Seoul, South Korea. Thank you for sharing your photo and personal information, including your age and plans for pregnancy. Based on what you've shared, I believe a tummy tuck is not necessary in your case. With the right approach, liposuction alone can deliver very good results. However, it's important to note that the wrinkles on the abdomen may not disappear completely—they can be improved, but not fully eliminated. To enhance your results and prevent the formation of deeper skin folds, it's essential to: Wear a proper compression garment consistently for as long as possible after surgery—ideally up to 3 months. Maintain good posture, as slouching or bending forward too often can contribute to creases or deepening of the folds. I hope this guidance is helpful for your planning! Warm regards,Dr. Hong
