Question

Hello I am 57yrs old female. Weight 9 st. Height 5ft 2. I have a deflated labia majora. Started menapause last Yr. And feel as though it has effected me. I feel uncomfortable in all clothes and sitting is uncomfortable. They say I have vulvodynia as well. So I would really appreciate if this operation could help me. And would love to know if expensive thankyou

Hello, fat filling will be very beneficial for the dull labia majora that occur after menopause, but this operation does not cure the complaint of vulvodynia. You should also be examined for vulvodynia and, if necessary, treatment can be performed for these pains in the same session.

Thanks for your question. If you are looking for a fuller labia majora, fat transfer would be a great option.  The key is that, not all the fat transfer will survive after the first procedure. You will need multiple fat transfer procedures to get your desire result.  Make sure you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck

Many women with sagging or wrinkling of the majora have stretching of skin and often fat loss. If the skin only is saggy due to fat loss, then only fat can be injected. However, over-injection can cause a large bulge in the genitalia, which can be unsightly. If skin is excessive and fat is diminished, then skin can be excised and  fat injected at the same time. If you only have slight wrinkling, then a laser can tighten the skin. ​If your labia majora skin and fat are excessive, then skin and probably fat can be excised to make them smaller and less protruding. The skin excision technique I pioneered leaves a scar on the inside of the majora in the concavity between the majora and the minor and clitoral hood.  I have published and lectured extensively on this procedure in textbooks and throughout the world.  Many physicians are not comfortable or trained in this procedure resulting in poorly placed scars, asymmetry, and poor results. You need to have the surgeon show photos of his past patients.

No. Fat injections are not a treat vulvodynia. Vulvodynia is caused by many things, but it isn't caused by deflated labia majora. You need a consultation with an expert in vulvodynia and these are usually gynecologists.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Without photographs it is difficult to offer definite advice but a combination of fat transfer and skin excision is usually best to address labial deflation but there is no way to predict if your vulvodynia would be improved.
