Hello I have a weak chin and jaw, something I have to hide with a beard. Would a jaw implant and neck lipo help with this or potentially a neck lift? Any health would be appreciated Thanks!
Answer: Chin implant and possible liposuction You would benefit from a chin implant. It is hard to assess the neck for liposuction because the beard is covering that area. Liposuction may help increase the definition of the neck. Physical examination is needed. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Chin augmentation? It would be difficult to advise you based on this photo. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in facial implants would be good solution. Good luck.

Answer: Chin, implant, and liposuction I’m not sure if either Eian implant or Liposuction is going to do all that much for you. It’s difficult to make an assessment and putting your hand on your chin doesn’t help us. Facial hair also obstruct the contour slightly. The primary reason young people form a double chin at an early age is generally due to bone structure, or a slight imbalance between the mandible and the maxilla. This typically is related to having a mandible that is small or lacking and projection, in comparison to the maxilla. Don’t be confused about the chin or the mentalis, which is only one part of the mandible. In your case it looks like you have a very well formed label mental fold so your chin projection is actually adequate. Excessive chin projection may therefore not look appropriate because it will worsen the lab mental fold or the small crease below your bottom lip. most likely the lack of projection isn’t a tip of your mandible, but rather in the body of your mandible further back. Advancing the mandible is fairly extensive surgery that most people aren’t willing to go through. You could talk to oral surgeons about the process if interested. Liposuction can get very good results on young individuals who have fat to remove. You seem quite fit with a thin layer of subcutaneous fat. for that reason, Liposuction may not have all that much impact. The reason these procedures aren’t going to give you great results is because they’re not treating the underlying problem. And the other hand advancing your mandible with jaw surgery is a bit more than most people want to undergo. Other characteristics that are typical on individuals with your facial features are profile pictures will show the upper lip having more forward projection than the lower lip a potential loss of jawline definition and potential premature jowls later in life. All of that said, I think your overall jawline is decent and I question if surgical intervention is really necessary. We all want to look better, but for some conditions getting to the root of the problem is a bit more complex. I’d be careful of providers who think this is a slam dunk or think it’s an easy assessment, or that simplistic solutions will give you High-quality outcomes. This is not to say that a chin, implant or liposuction cannot be in your favor. I simply question how much of an improvement they will create and if that’s worth all of the negatives of having surgery. Maintaining facial hair with a beard or goatee can be aesthetically beneficial for people like yourself. I do the same myself. If you do, go forward to scheduling consultations, I suggest asking each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had very similar facial characteristics to your own. Look for individuals who are of the same age, the overall same amount of body, fat and similar bone structure. It’s a good idea to bring pictures of yourself to use as a reference during consultations when reviewing before and after picture. It’s also a good idea to have a few consultations when selecting providers. The more consultations you schedule the better off you are in regards to finding the most competent provider. You’ll probably find people happy to take your money and offer for your surgery. In this business patients need to be there on advocates.. Best, mats Hagstrom, MD
