Dents one year after BBL - how can this be fixed? (Photos)

Question

I had a bbl a year ago now I noticed after a few months of healing I had dents on each side of my lower butt/ side areas I’m not sure if it’s scar tissue or another fact raft is needed

Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made.

Buttock “dents”, contour irregularities or asymmetries are unfortunately not that uncommon after BBL. As much of the transferred fat melts away, it takes good fat with it, leaving these problems behind. I personally treat patients like you by restoring volume to the buttock with a buttock implant and/or hip implants to the hip area. These implants are more reliable and predictable at creating a smoother and rounded perky buttock and curvy hip profile.

Any “non-surgical” treatment or device as well as exercise, unfortunately, will have little to no effect on this problem area. Furthermore, fat “fillers” such as Sculptra or hyaluronic acids perform very poorly in this area and usually result in just a waste of hard earned money.

Please note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock or hip implants you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon.  Getting it done right the first time around is not only the best chance for success, but also will save you from a lot of headaches and money in the future. Glad to help.

The dents can come from uneven distribution of the fat or scar tissue or loss of the fart over time.  An exam is needed, but liposuction and more grafting would probably be the solution to smooth things out.

In most patients undergoing BBL surgery dents and irregularities are unavoidable even in the most experienced hands. Revision of the security deformities consists of combination of liposuction and fat grafting. I hope this helps.

Dents appearing after a BBL are usually caused by uneven fat survival, underlying scar tissue or adhesions, or a contour irregularity, rather than a sign that something is seriously wrong. At one year your result is stable, so the correction options include subcision to release any tethering bands, a small fat-grafting touch-up to refill the depressions, or a combination of both. Which one fits you depends on whether the dent is a tethered scar or a true volume gap, and that is easy to tell on exam by gently stretching the skin to see if the dent releases. This is a common and very fixable revision, so try not to worry.
