I’m 9 months post op after arm lift, is it quite normal to feel swelling and tightness still after this period of time?
Answer: Arm lift Swelling and tightness can be normal after undergoing an arm lift (brachioplasty) for several months post-surgery. The recovery period can vary from person to person, and it's not uncommon to experience residual swelling and tightness even after nine months. The body's healing process takes time, and the extent and duration of swelling can depend on various factors, including the individual's healing ability, the surgical technique used, and the specific characteristics of the procedure. It's important to note that each person's recovery may differ, and some individuals may experience prolonged swelling and tightness compared to others. However, it's always recommended to consult with your surgeon regarding any concerns or unusual symptoms you're experiencing. They will be able to assess your specific situation and provide appropriate advice based on your post-operative progress. They may want to examine your arm to ensure there are no complications or issues contributing to the ongoing swelling and tightness. I hope this helps, best of luck !

Answer: Arms Yes, you may still feel tight because that is what you wanted. Most of the swelling has subsided by now. Micro-needling can improve your scar.

Answer: Arm lift recovery Thanks for your question and the photo you provided. It is common to continue to heal for about 1 year after an arm lift. You may want to visit your plastic surgeon to discuss any changes to your recent habits/diet/medications which may affect swelling. Thanks, good luck!

Answer: Managing Swelling and Tightness After an Arm Lift Surgery Hello, Thank you for your question regarding arm lift swelling and tightness nine months post-operation, and whether this is normal. Thank you for your history and your picture. It is not uncommon to have swelling even 12 months after an arm lift. If you have swelling, I would suggest you minimize it by wearing a compression garment from your wrist to your armpit. You should also keep the elbow straight and elevate the hand. Do this for about two weeks after each bout of swelling. You should also consider having lymphatic massage to the area. If you've already had lymphatic massage, you should repeat it, as this will help to minimize swelling. In terms of the tightness, it is a common complaint after the arm lift. The tightness may last for many years to come. I would suggest physical therapy and active range of motion exercises. You may even need to enroll in a physical therapy class to regain range of motion and minimize the tightness. I hope I have answered some of your questions regarding arm swelling and tightness, nine months after your brachioplasty. Good luck. Sincerely, Dr. J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FACS, FICS

Answer: 9 months post op At nine months post op you may experience some minor swelling or tightness, but you should be generally feeling back to normal. Swelling or tightness may be increased if you had a day of strenuous activity. However if this discomfort is something you are experiencing every day I recommend returning to your surgeon for an evaluation.
