I had abdomen, flanks and back liposuction, after 2 months I’ve been left with a disfigured abdomen. I had lymphatic massage everyday and currently on my 6th radio frequency treatment and still no changes. I wore my compression garment everyday 24hrs for 7 weeks. My abdomen was better before what I have now, is this fixable?
Answer: Liposuction results Dear Inventive8246, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Liposuction results Your results are direct reflection of how the procedure was performed. I continue on a daily basis to post on this website telling patients are delivering consistent high-quality Liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. The importance of finding the most talented and experienced provider cannot be overstated. I recommend patients do this by having multiple in person consultations at which time they should ask providers to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. simply seeing a handful of pre-selected pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like. This is why patients need to push providers to share their entire collection or show as many pictures as you’re willing to. an experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 sets of before and after pictures. Highly experienced surgeons will have hundreds or even thousands. Liposuction results are permanent and more or less irreversible. Debility to correct poor outcomes depends on how aggressive the procedure was. The more aggressive the primary procedure the more difficult it is to improve on the outcome. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction so the importance of finding a provider who is extremely talented because of that speaking. Attempts to do revision in the hands of those lacking experience can easily make things worse. Revision work is technically much more difficult than Primary Liposuction. In the end your surgeon is responsible for your outcome and you are responsible for choosing that surgeon. After care like radio frequency treatments and lymphatic massage have no impact on final outcomes. For secondary procedures or revision of work in person consultations are mandatory in my opinion. Just schedule proper in person second opinion consultation come prepared with a copy of your operative report and all before and after pictures. Follow the above recommendations in regards to finding the most talented provider. Typically some improvements can be made but patients cannot be restored to preprocedure your body contour. Sometimes improvements require doing multiple procedures. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
