This is what my stomach looks like after smart Lipo that was done about six years ago. Can this be corrected? I did the massages after surgery but they didn't help.
Answer: Liposuction results Dear BotchedBeauty, I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately. The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result. Answer: Collecting poorly done Liposuction I continue to tell patients that delivering quality liposuction results is much more difficult than most people believe. The importance of finding the most talented and experienced providers for these procedures cannot be over emphasized as you can speak to first hand. Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible. Correcting bad results maybe possible to some degree. It is very much on a case by case bases. Those who were treated aggressively are the most difficult to improve on. Treatment options typically come down to revision liposuction, fat transfer, a combination of both or if appropriate converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation like a full tummy tuck. in your case none of these are great options. there’s always room for some improvement but if that justifies the treatment is another question. Most likely to get some improvements would require multiple procedures. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction so the importance of finding a talented and experienced surgeon goes without saying. Attempting to improve your outcome can very easily make it worse. Fat transfer may be an option but it will require multiple rounds of grafting small amounts of fat with each procedure. Assessing someone for revision surgery requires an in person consultation. The assessment is literally done area by area lump by lump, divot by divot. Typically surgeons will work on the worst spots first and try to build them up to gain some improvement. To get something that looks decent may require four operations or more. Going back to your primary surgeon is not a wise idea since that person has already shown to be lacking the skill and experience necessary to do primary work and like I mentioned secondary or revision work is more difficult than primary. If you’re motivated enough to have surgery then you’ll need to start the search process for the most talented and experienced surgeon willing to take on your case which will not be easy. It requires having multiple in person consultations at which time you’ll get direct firsthand feedback how do I need provider recommends, I can do and cannot do. Whether that’s worth it or not varies from person to person. Nobody expects to get bad results from Liposuction and nobody wants to go back and have more surgery. Some people are more motivated than others to get things like this corrected. Unfortunately poor quality results are more common than people believe. The importance of properly vetting plastic surgeons before having surgery cannot be overstated. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
