2 years ago I had my fillers resolved and then filled my lips again. Straight away I noticed a dent. It didn’t go away and every time I tried to correct it with filler it got more noticeable. A couple of months ago I resolved them again and I can still see the dent. Will it ever go away or is it permanent damage?
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Will the dent in my lips from filler go away? (photos) Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Without "before" images it is difficult to comment as we would like to see if the area previously existed as this is not an uncommon asymmetry present in patient's lips.

Answer: Permanent effect of fillers We see more and more late effects of fillers, in particular after repeated use in the same location. Thin skin of the lip is in particular prone to show these secondary deformities as lumps or dimples. This is result of deep scar that forms after application of filler either because of injurie of application or, most likely, as result of inflammatory process that causes chronic changes in form of lump or deep scar which creates distortion of surrounding tissue like white lip role/line. In some cases release of deep scar with the tip of the needle and filling with fat nano graft may help. Good luck.

Answer: Scarring It appears to be scar tissue from repeated injections or injury in the past that is becoming more prominent and the defect gets more enhanced with fillers because of the depth of the injection of lip fillers which is typically superficial. You may have had a deeper injection /injury resulting in scar tissue that involves skin and tissues underneath. If it makes sense, filler is going to fill surrounding tissue and not the dent which is deeper than the tissue surrounding it. So in my opinion, more filler will not help. You may see improvement with fat grafting from an experienced plastic surgeon under imaging.

Answer: Will the dent in my lips from filler go away? This post injection/dissolving lip deformity is becoming very common. Only a true exert injecting MD could try to improve by offering small dosing injections over 6 weeks. This slowly builds up the layers to correct in dentation. I also use micro/nano fat grafting. Either process fees in the $5,000 ranges.
