For some injectors, a dose of hyaluronidase, the enzyme that breaks down the hyaluronic acid fillers, is just a dose that does not exceed 40 or 50 units. The amount of enzyme that is required very much depends on how runny the original filler was. The hyaluronic acid Belotero that is used by some for lip edge treatment is extremely runny creating the lip shelf and even running to the bottom of the cheeks. Large doses of hyaluronidase are needed to clear these fillers. This could require a dose of 150 to 300 units of enzyme. In addition, the enzyme has to reach the filler for it to work.
