Lump in lip still there 4 years after having filler. (photo)

Question

I had Juvederm 3, it didn't look natural at all she ended up going crazy in my already prominent cupids bow. I could also feel little lumps in the underside of my lips. don't think she had done many male lips before! I ended up going to my botox lady who dissolved a lot of the filler for me for free. 4 years later i still have two small lumps, I'm wondering is this filler or is this my own skin or maybe scar tissue that has surrounded it?

Every once in a while there can be some filler that just doesn't dissolve naturally.  This is seen most often in the lower lids.  So worth trying some hyaluroindase to see if you can dissolve it.If this doesn't work then it may be some scar tissue.  5-FU and kenalog injections may be able to soften this.  Ulthera may also help to soften the nodule.If these fail, then can have it excised.

I would try hyaluronidase. It might work. If it doesn't, it is collagen and would only respond to excision. There is no harm in trying the enzyme.

After 4 years your filler will be gone.   The lumps you see and feel are areas of scar tissue.   Steroid injections may well help get rid of these.   Go see your injector you are comfortable with.   My Best,  Dr Commons
