Can I get impetigo from lips fillers? (Photo)

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph and I am sorry to hear of your development of impetigo.  Any break in the skin can predispose the formation of a skin infection like impetigo.  Albeit very rare, this includes dermal filler placement.  Talk to your injector about topical and oral antibiotic treatment options.  Best wishes. 

Based on your photos and history, there is a high suspicion of herpes virus infection. Such infection requires immediate treatment with one of the antiviral agents, such as valtrex to expedite recovery and prevent permanent scarring. It is likely related to your lip injections especially given the onset within 2 days post injections. To cover you for impetigo, your doctor could at the same time prescribe a topical antibiotic such as fucidin ointment, or even oral antibiotic such as reflex. Patients who are prone to herpes around mouth should provide such a history to your doctor to ensure that both of you have a plan if such sudden lesions were to form again. 

Thank you for your question. From looking at your photograph it appears that you may have impetigo or a herpes simplex infection. Sometimes injections can aggravate the herpes. I recommend having a follow up with your injection for proper treatment. Best of Luck!

I would make sure that this is really impetigo and not a herpetic outbreak. It might just be coincidence that you have this too, but unlikely. Altabax is great for impetigo and it should clear within days. 

Hi There Thank you for your question and photograph.I am sorry to see that you have impetigo.It could well be coincidence as I would expect other entry points to be infected as well.
