This is may be due to your underbite, which you can address with your orthodontist. A combination of fillers (juvederm, restylane, volbella) with botox and lasers are options to improve symmetry. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Louie.  Conservative lip reduction surgery of your upper lip may be an option for you, but I would wait until AFTER your orthodontic treatment.  Your mouth region will look different after braces and it is best to be evaluated at that time.  Can't be sure of the cause of your condition, but that is history.  Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  It appears that your lip appearance is more a result of your underlying jaw and dentition.  This should improve with either braces or oral maxillofacial surgery.  Voice your concerns to your orthodontist for more information. 

Thank you for your answer. In my office I like to use dermal fillers such as Juvederm to improve symmetry and to give a more natural look. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane Silk can easily be dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase if you are unhappy with the results. Botox can be a good option too as it can be combined with dermal fillers for the best outcome. But I recommend you address this with your orthodontist before a consultation with an experienced injector. All the best!

In m opinion, orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery, to restore the balance of your upper and lower jaws relative to one another and the rest of the architecture of your face will best help to achieve a better position of your upper lip in relation to your teeth.  I would consult with a board-certified oral surgeon for an opinion.

It appears your have an underbite and poor upper maxillary projection. I would have this all repaired with surgery and/or orthodontics. This will most likely improve the problem. 

Because you have an underbite and will probably need upper jaw surgery as well as orthodontics, you should wait to see the results of those efforts. Particularly if you undergo an upper jaw advancement your upper lip overhang may become a self-solving problem.
