How long do results from kenalog injection take to see after rhinoplasty?

I had kenalog injected today on the sides of my nose, 1 month post op from my rhinoplasty. I am swollen on the sides and started to notice some hardening, so my doctor thought this would help. How long do you think until I notice some of this hardening to soften? I realize my nose will still be swollen - and it may take up to a year to see final results. Just wondering how quickly I will notice an improvement from the kenalog.

Usually, the results of kenalog injections are seen in the first week, and often a series of kenalog injections must be administered.  This is usually because the kenalog is diluted in order to avoid adverse complications.  Relay your concerns to your surgeon and they will formulate a plan tailored to your needs.  Good luck!

In general rhinoplasty patients are advised to wait 6-12 months in order to see the final result. With Kenalog, improvement should be noticed in day and can be repeated 2-3 over the course of weeks.

It really depends on what is causing the "swelling".  If it is truely swelling or edema, then the kenalog should work within a few days.  But sometimes kenalog is injected for "scar tissue".  Thinning of this will take weeks to months.  You are still very early in the healing process so proceed cautiously.  Schedule routine follow up with your surgeon for reassurance.  All the Best.

The firmness is going to take at least several months to start softening. The kenalog injection can help this along and address some of the swelling that is present but has its limitations. You should notice a difference from the kenalog injection after about 24-48 hours.
