Allowfor 7-10 days for recovery, possibly longer depending on how your body heals beforereturning to work. There might be acertain degree of discomfort. With each passingday, the swelling will go down a bit more. By 4-6 weeks you will start looking normal toyourself and others, but it may take a year or longer for your nose to settle into its finalform.
Most of our patients look and feel pretty good after a week and have little or no bruising but everyone is different.
Thank you very much for enquire. The Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity. In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months. To reduce this swelling, I recommend to perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills to have a good recovery.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Hi. The recovery from a full rhinoplasty is the least glamorous of cosmetic procedures. You will look bruised and swollen for 2 weeks. If you have an associated septoplasty and or tubinectomy then you may have packs and splints inside the nose which are uncomfortable on removal. You will have a splint in the outside of your nose for 1-2 weeks. Normal activities including sport and exercise at 6 weeks and final result at 6-12 months. The pain is bearable and just needs tablet pain relief. Having said all of that in expert hand it is an excellent operation that makes a big difference to the appearance of the whole face. Hope this helps
It takes up to two weeks for general bruising and swelling to subside at which time you will see 90% of the final result. Keep in my mind that it takes up to a year or more ( every patient is different)- to see the final result. Every person's pain tolerance is different- you might feel pressure due to packing-- but my patients usually feel pretty good the following day. Seek an experienced Board Certified PS with extensive experience in Rhinoplasty.
The vast majority of patients can manage the pain with Tylenol alone starting 24 hours after surgery. It is rare for a patient to require narcotic medications beyond the first 24 hours. During the first week after surgery, patients wear a cast on the nose to preserve the new shape and to minimize swelling. Following this, the swelling gradually subsides on the nose so that at 6 or 7 days the cast is removed, and by 10 days there is no more bruising. The bones complete their healing by 6 weeks after surgery, at which time full activities are permitted. The final shape of the nose evolves over the 12-18 months after surgery.
The nose will heal to the pint where you can do most activities within 6 weeks but it will stay swollen for a year or more. Most patients describe the pain as bearable but very sore in my practice that usually gets better within a few weeks.
Visible bruising and swelling lasts approximately 10-14 days after a rhinoplasty procedure. The surgery itself is not very painful, unless packing is placed inside the nose. Packing is unnecessary, and is not used in our practice, therefore most patients take a few pain pills the first few days after the procedure. Full healing after a rhinoplasty is one year.
FULL rhinoplasty healing is up to 1 year. But the pain issues should ONY last a few weeks..............
Hi,Early period is 1 week. By the end of the first week all of the bruising and almost all of the swelling at face will resolve. The skin of the nose is swollen at first but gradually gets thinner and by the end of the first month it gains a nice texture and thickness and your nose looks better. From 1st to 6th month postoperatively some small changes may occur as tissue healing lasts for more than 6 months and up to one year. You can also find this info in almost all forums or plastic surgeon websites. My best
Dear Kim1,I am impressed with the efforts you took to evaluate your situation! Bravo! The sunken in area can be augmented with filler (non-surgically) or with an implant (foreign material) or graft (material from your own body). You can even try the filler first, to see how it looks....
At one month post-op, you are still healing. Vitamin K oxide gel has shown to reduce staining by preventing and reversing the formation of hemosiderin. Continue with your dermatologist’s recommendations.
Surgeons use their best judgement at operation. To make a strong "never" for anything may not be best (I would allow an "almost never", however). Thinning the nasal skin can be indicated, but overdoing it (which may not be evident at operation) can result in a hard to remedy...
