One of my breast implants looks smaller than the other one. Will I require revision surgery? (photos)

Because you complain of discomfort and pain, this may be an indication that you are developing capsular contracture which can also contribute to the asymmetry you have.  Is your discomfort new or has it been this way for some time?  Is the asymmetry new or has it always been asymmetrical?  You should follow up with either your original surgeon if you are confident doing so or other board certified Plastic Surgeons in your area.  Insurance does not cover complications of cosmetic surgery but depending on the maker of your implants, you may have capsular contracture coverage.  If the discomfort and asymmetry bother you, it will require revision surgery and the exact nature of this surgery will need to be discussed during an in-person exam.  Good luck to you.

Slight asymmetry is normal after breast augmentation. You should be examined for a full evaluation and recommendations. Your previous plastic surgeon is a good place to start.

Dear sweetnewme,Mild asymmetry is common and really expected after a breast asymmetry, but a progressive change may be due to tightening of the scar tissue around the implant called a capsular contracture. It can make the implant feel tighter and firmer, look smaller, and rise up. If you feel this is happening it is best to see your surgeon or one in your area. It is not an emergency, but there may be some medications that might help. It is important to know if you have smooth or textured implants as well because massaging may be helpful if they are smooth. Capsular contractures can increase in severity and may require surgery if they become uncomfortable or too difficult to conceal. I always think it is best to see your surgeon if possible. If it is not, get a copy of your records to take with you to your new appointment.If both implants feel soft and you just have mild asymmetry from your natural anatomy or how the implants have settled. Weight fluctuations can also bring out more natural asymmetry. You will just have to decide if it is worth doing anything now or just letting a bra and bathing suit top even things out.Best of luck,
