Am I a candidate for a ThermiTight even though I had Eliquis for a previous blood clot and Atrial Fib?

ThermiTight is minimally, not non-invasive.  In my NYC practice I use needles to deliver local anesthetic and the radiofrequency cannula is delivered back and forth under the skin delivering the energy which is converted to heat to tighten the collagen. If a patient is taking blood thinners, I don't like to stop them prior to an elective procedure for aesthetic concerns if the primary care physician thinks there is any increased risk in medical problems.  If the blood thinners are continued through the treatment, there is a considerable chance of worse bruising than is typically seen, and even the risk exists of developing a hematoma, which is a collection of blood underneath the skin. Hematomas can cause problems with healing and the skin's appearance above the hematoma. One should definitely consider at least a two week down time if this procedure is done on a patient taking blood thinners.

ThermiTight is a minimally invasive procedure that involves placing a probe underneath the skin to heat up the underlying tissue. This does require making a very small incision to insert the probe. My preference would be to stop the medication if your primary physician is comfortable with this, otherwise, you may expect more bruising during the recovery. So even while on blood thinners you are still a candidate for the procedure, you just may have more bruising while healing.

Nothing can replace a thorough history and physical exam but generally speaking the ThermiTight procedure can be performed. You may experience more bruising than someone not on blood thinners. I do not routinely take any of my patients off of blood thinners when using radiofrequency technology. We have been very excited with the results we are seeing in our ThermiTight patients.
