I recommend following up with your Doctor about their protocol regarding compression. I have my patients wear compression for 3-6 weeks straight then overnight for 3-6 months after their procedure. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Best, Dr. Emer
Every surgeon has a different protocol for post operative care and you should discuss with your PS how long they would recommend for you to wear it. On average, I ask my patients to wear their compression garment for at least 6-8 weeks to help minimize swelling.
I would ask your plastic surgeon about garments and the duration of wear, because each plastic surgeon will have a different protocol. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Los Angeles, CA
Dear pennyjoanne, every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. You should always discuss your post-op protocol with your surgeon and follow his or her instructions. With my patients, I usually try to encourage compression for 6-8 weeks after surgery. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your question. I recommend the 24 hour use of a garment for the first 4 -5 months after surgery. This helps a lot to reduce swelling and curve your body. Best of luck
Hello,Because each surgeon has a different post-op protocol, I would discuss this question with your liposuction surgeon. I see patients often post-liposuction. Depending on how well the patient is healing dictates the length of time that the patient needs to wear the liposuction garment. Most wear the garment anywhere between 3 and 5 weeks. Best of luck!
Thank you for asking this question. Depending on the plastic surgeon operating and his or her post operative protocol the time may vary. I recommend all my patients to wear their compression garments for a minimum of 6 - 8 weeks. Please discuss this with your operating surgeon.
Thank you for the question and the information provided. Each doctor has its own protocol, it is important to always follow his or her recommendations. I suggest my patients to use the garment the first weeks 24/7 and continue for at least 6 months. Best Wishes.
First of all, congratulations on your liposuction, pennyjoanne! The amount of time you should wear your compression garment after liposuction depends on your plastic surgeon, but in general, it’s about six weeks. These garments improve your contour and reduce swelling, which is more pronounced during the first couple of months after your surgery.Remember to always go on follow-up checkups with your reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon.Good luck!
The fat usually accumulates in the areas that are not liposuctioned or are liposuctioned less aggressively.
That procedure by itself that long ago should not prevent you from having liposuction of that area at this point.
This can probably be accomplished but the plastic surgeon should perform liposuction on thinner patients every day, because you want the result to be smooth.
