Difficulty removing rhinoplasty tape even with oil. Suggestions?

Hi and thank you for your question. If you are having some trouble removing the tape, try to work it with acetone. If acetone does not get the job done, you can reach out to your surgeon who will be happy to provide you with medical grade adhesive remover.

There are medical-grade adhesive removers (Detachol) that one can use. They are sold online. Maybe your surgeon can give you some as well. Alternatively, acetone may work but check with your surgeon first. Best wishes,Thomas Walker, MD, FACS

I would use nail polish remover to help remove your rhinoplasty tape.  Nail polish remover has acetone in it, and this will help remove any adhesive from the tape.  You could also check with your surgeon to see if they have any other suggestions.

Your surgeon should be able to provide medical brand adhesive remover for you. Just contact your surgeons office and I am sure they will be happy to assist you. I personally do not have my patients tape their noses. I believe the aggravation of taping and removing tape is counter productive. Every surgeon has their preference. Best regards, Michael V.
