I only have 4-5 teeth left on top and several broken off at the gums top and bottom; should I get dentures first?

I think you can bypass dentures and go straight to a fixed hybrid prosthesis which can be done on the same day that the teeth are removed. This means fixed teeth day one, it could be the All-on-4 technique, or a similar treatment modality. This requires a CT scan and other diagnostics in order to assess whether you are a good candidate or not.

An regular denture sits on top of the bone and gums It requires some coordination to use. It also has comfort and dietary limitations.
Implants used to stabilize a denture provide a world of difference in comfort and daily satisfaction 
If your finances allow, having implants even the minimum advised by your dentist will provide a significantly improved experience-eating, socially, esthetically to name a few. 
The price is in addition to the denture and is about that of a car. Which type of car is up to you. However, you use your mouth daily, more than a car. Consider the investment in implants an investment in yourself and your daily happiness.

yes, dentures are possible. as u said u have few teeth present in your mouth , so cast partial denture is good option in your case if u do not want to go for implant.

You may be able to have teeth removed, implants placed, and possibly a screw retained, non removeable bridge placed all in the same day,  This requires proper preplanning including a CT scan to determine where and if there is sufficient bone to place the implants.  4-6 implants would be required on top and on bottom, the more the better.  Another option would be to have all teeth removed and placement of 2-4 implants on top and on bottom.  A full removeable denture would snap in an be retained by these implants.  You would be able to remove the denture daily to clean it and the implants. This option is less expensive, more easy to clean, but not as comfortable as it is still a denture.  Both of these options will improve your health and self esteem.  My advice is to first find an experienced, well qualified dentist in these procedures.  Ask how many of these he has done and if you could speak to a patient that has gone through the procedure to hear about their experience and satisfaction.
