I had a gum shortening procedure done by Dr. Ebner last summer. I went in for an Invisalign consult and ended up with the smile and teeth I always wanted! I was cursed with a smile that was all gums and little teeth thanks to my genetics. I look back at pictures of myself from middle school and see when I first became self conscious of it, I stopped showing my teeth when I smiled. Prom, graduation, Christmas picts, picts with friends- all had the same tight lipped smile. I didn't know there was something that could be done. In comes a life changing consultation with Dr. Jennifer Ebner for Invisalign. She was highly recommended by my BFs mom, and I can see why. Dr. Ebner talked about straightening my teeth and all. Then she brought up a gum procedure that could permanently get rid of my gummy smile and make my teeth bigger, without expensive veneers that I couldn't afford anyway. This was the first time any dentist addressed my gummy smile with a solution. I remember going home and talking with my mom on the phone. I had that funny-good feeling in my stomach when I called to schedule my starting appointment. I went through with the Invisalign first to straighten my teeth. The gum procedure itself was not painful and took about an hour and a half. I did have raw gums for about a month while I was healing. I admit Dr. Ebner prescribed me a pill to calm me down because I was so anxious! The results were immediate! I had full sized, beautiful teeth. They were always there but were covered by thick gums that Dr. Ebner cut away (as she explained). My only regret is I didn't know this was possible earlier. I look at my picts now and I look like a happy crocodile, grinning from ear to ear! I'm asked by friends I haven't seen in a while if I got veneers or bonding because they think they my teeth look so beautiful! I couldn't be more happy!
I hated my teeth and hadn’t smiled for years. Thanks to Dr. Ebner I regained my confidence and smile all the time now! I’m so greatful for Dr. Ebner and her wonderful staff has done for me. In my opinion there is no place more committed to your smile and your health!
I went to Dr Ebner on a referral from a friend. She was very gentle on mouth and the whole procedure of having my wisdom teeth extracted was comforting. She also placed new cadavar bone in for future implants and then stitched me up. I was awake for the whole thing. I was amazed how I felt afterwards. People told me I would be down a few days I went back to work the same day! The third day it was a little sore but nothing compared to the stories I was hearing. i wish I wouldn't had waited so long. I would recommend her to all my friends and family!
Dr. Ebner took her time and gave me many varieties and options for my teeth. I felt like she really cared about my comfort level. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. I did five different settings with her and I would highly recommend her.
This review is long overdue. I broke a tooth with a cap on it and asked around. Dr Ebner came highly recommended so I decided to give her a try. I was very impressed! First, she got me in and taken care of quickly. She looked at my teeth and let me know in a nice way that I had more teeth with problems than the broken one, not finger wagging judgmental though. The shot was barely noticeable and I was comfortable the whole time. I found her to be so personable too. Even with her fingers in my mouth, she had me laughing at times. Great bedside manor! And she is obviously very good at her job. When I left, I had a new tooth and another appointment to see her again for a real check up and cleaning. Now that I have a favorite dentist, I can start getting my teeth fixed. She made me feel like she genuinely cared about my health and happiness. Yay!
I was lucky to have Dr. Ebner fix my teeth after delaying getting it done for a while. I've always been terrified of the dentist. I'd been good about taking my children over the years but neglectful of myself. I had some scary dentists as a child. Dr. Ebner was so thorough in explaining what was going to happen, but not in a scary way. She let me know each step as she progressed and I have to say I didn't even know she's had poked me with the needle before she was already done! The drilling part was noisy but painless. Her fillings felt like nothing was there and looked like nothing was there! And when my mouth woke up, they felt great! I'm so appreciative of her and the staff at AZ Smiles. I had a great experience with her and will be going back to finish up my work with her. The only downside is that she teaches at a dental school so she's not at that office everyday. It's ok for me because Dr Ebner is definitely worth the wait!
It is unlikely that the dentist used old or expired bonding material for your tooth. The expiration of the composite material would effect the texture and workability, not the coloring. It may effect the strength of the bonding or the attachment to the tooth. External stains such as your photo shows, are more likely due to a combination of dietary choices and the porosity of the bonding. Heavily staining foods/drinks such as coffee, red wine, tumeric supplements will stain a composite filling over time. A more porous filling/bonding cause by poor finishing and polishing will accept more stain. I recommend you return to have the bonding polished and ask for a sealer to be placed over it to offer additional protection. And of course, to minimize further stains, watch what you eat and drink. The procedures are separate and the anesthesia is irrelevant. Just be sure that you have a frank discussion with your dentist that includes mock up teeth, so you know what you're getting and that you and your dentist are on the same page. Kind of like having the plastic surgeon try the implants in your bra to see how big you want them to be. Good Luck, Dr. Ebner
Your concerns are valid, but unclear as to what is going on. With out x-rays and an actual visualization of how you bite and how your jaws fit together, its impossible to give definitive advice. Sit down with your dentist or get a recommendation from a friend for one and discuss your cosmetic options while they can examine you. Only then can a personalized treatment plan be made for you. Maybe its an easy fix. Maybe there will be a lot of time and money to spend to get the smile you want. Either way, a thorough exam is first on the agenda. Good Luck Dr Ebner
Because of the tooth structure lost preparing a root canal in a tooth, a full coverage crown will provide the strength needed for longevity. There are multiple options for blocking out a discolored tooth. whether a crown or veneer is placed. Erring on the side of conserving tooth structure by providing inadequate strength or cosmetic results, especially for a front tooth, is not recommended. Whats the point of a super white veneered tooth that has broken off and is now unrestorable. With a little planning and playing with cores and layering porcelain, a very harmonious and blended and strong crown can be placed, providing years or decades of beautiful smiles. Good Luck, Dr. Ebner
A little bit of tooth movement with braces and then veneers would be an ideal treatment, in my opinion. If thats not an option, braces by themself is a great fix. You might find, in a more harmonious position, the shape and color of your teeth is perfect. Bonding is a weaker fix. Veneers could be placed but the teeth would need to be drilled to make the final size of the teeth within proportion. Good Luck, Dr. Ebner
