Vitamin C does serve its purpose in skincare. It helps to brighten the skin and fight free radical damage. However, it would not be the choice that I would make for microneedling of scars. We use Biopelle Intensive Serum 40’s growth factor ampules. The growth factors help to decrease healing time, optimize the outcome of your treatment and helps with tone, texture and elasticity.Product in combination with the correct depth will give the best possible results for scars. A series of treatments will be needed about 1 month apart.Hope this helps!
Hi @haniyousif! I would recommend microneedling with PRP for you. PRP contains growth factors which will help to rebuild the collagen in the skin and can help with scarring. Best of luck to you, Dr. Nima!
Thank you for your question and photo. While Vitamin C serum likely would be safe, it probably is not the most effective. In our practice we use a multimodality approach by combining subcision, Sculptra, and laser to address various aspects of the facial scar that can be improved. We also use PRP (platelet rich plasma) to deliver growth factors to the skin after the micro-channels are made with the microneedling treatment in order to stimulate collagen production as well as decrease down-time. Vitamin C serums used daily do help to brighten the skin and protect against free radicals, but for your scarring I’d recommend PRP as the ‘serum’ of choice to combine with microneedling treatments. Good luck!
We have had amazing results with Biopelle and microneedling. With your acne scarring, I would expect to need at least 5 treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
Microneedling with vitamin C can be beneficial if your main concern is hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin. If you are looking to heal acne scars I recommend you use a stem cell serum or PRP (platelet rich plasma). These contain growth factors which will help to rebuild the collagen in the skin and heal your scarring.
Thank you for your message! We generally use hyaluronic acid to work into the skin during a basic microneedling treatment. Based off of your pictures, you would likely benefit from microneedling with PRP. PRP, or platelet rich plasma, involves drawing your blood, spinning it down, and using the purified plasma to work into the skin. The growth factors in the PRP help to boost results and lessen healing time. Multiple treatments are typically needed for the most desired result.
Hello thank you for your question unfortunately there is not just one procedure/product out there which will help with this problem. Micro needling with HA, and PRP topically and intradermal are excellent TCA droplets into the scar base,Fillers, RF ,Laser Co2 or erbium or both , punch excisions are still the gold standard for this problem. any serum vit c , HA, will help build collagen but not fill in those deep acne scars
Hello,I prefer a combination technique by injecting PRP (platelet rich plasma) then microneedling the skin on the same treatment date. With the extra PRP, I use it as a serm to further penetrate into the skin through the open microchannels caused by microneedling. PRP has many benefits including potent growth factors which helps collagen stimulation and productions. I recommend using Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid post microneedling, as the antioxidants will help with redness and further healing benefits. I would recommend consulting with a provider and feel comfortable before proceeding. Best of luck! Report
Hello and thank you for this question. I look forward to sharing with you my recommendation for micro needling serum. While almost any serum can be used, why not use the best option. My serum is Omni Bioceutical Innovations human growth factor serum. It is nearly 100% pure, free of irritants, has antimicrobial properties and is derived from actual skin cells, not fat, bone marrow, platelets, placenta, bone or other human tissues. Actual skin cells are going to be the most effective at sending a message to another skin cell. Our serum can be used on an open wound...different from many other skin cell products because of the other actives in it. Most growth factor serums are not patented. The process that purifies and concentrates all the antiinflammatory factors is why I use this product over a multitude of others on the market. I have used in on cuts, ulcers, open cysts and acne and in 9 years have never had a reaction. I would not, at this point in time, do micro needling any other way. Best of luck!Sincerely,Valerie Schneider MD
Professional Micro-needling is an interesting treatment that dates back to ancient Chinese medicine. It causes micro-injury in the superficial skin layer that start a cascade of healing mechanisms in the skin and grows new skin cells and collagen. Although it is an ideal treatment for acne scars, multiple treatments will be needed. For the level of acne scars present on your photograph, the addition of biologics such as Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP to your professional micro-needling treatments is the most active serum you can use. Additionally, I believe deep and wide acne scars respond well to Subcision (mechanical breaking the scars with special Subcision needles) and injection of fillers into the scars.
