I have posted about this before. especially if you underwent general anesthesia (which is why i do my liposuciton under tumescent) this can take a few weeks to a few months to resolve. it is a rare but more common than you think body reaction to liposuction surgery. if it lasts more than a week or so, please see your primary physician. What you describe is not typical and may not be related to your procedure.The two most common reasons for genital symptoms after surgery are either vaginal yeast infections from taking antibiotics or irritation of the urethra if a urinary catheter was placed during the procedure.Neither one should cause vaginal bleeding.My recommendation is to let your plastic surgeon know and follow up with your primary care doctor or OB/GYN when it's convenient.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
