During pregnancy, the breast increases in size ( volume) in order to produce the milk to feed the newborn. In some cases, the enlargement of the breast could be significant, to the point that can cause excesive stretching of the breast, and subsequent "sagging" of the breast once the lactation period has passed. Therefore, patients who have undergone breast reduction, may develop sagging breasts if their breast significantly increase in volume/size during pregnancy/lactation. Family history ( sisters, mother) may suggest how the breast of a patient may behave during pregnancy
Thank you for asking. This is a personal decision with differences between a person's goals, lifestyle and physical exam. Breasts will change substantially after pregnancy and a procedure beforehand may need revision later. Discuss the pros and cons with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best woshrs
If you are thinking about having a child in the next year or working on it now, I would suggest that you wait because your post-pregnancy breasts might look different from your current pair. During pregnancy, your breasts will enlarge from hormonal changes and milk production. Afterward, they might return to their original size or get smaller, bigger or droopier. You won’t know the verdict until six months after you have stopped breastfeeding or, if you are not breastfeeding, six months after childbirth. If parenthood is further in your future and you anxious for a change now, you don’t have to wait. Just understand that you might need a revision after pregnancy.Either way, there's no reason not to have a consultation now to get the information you need to make your decision.Best wishes,Dr. Ted Eisenberg
Pregnancy, weight gain and aging can all affect your breasts. Having a breast lift at a young age will not prevent these changes from occurring. However, for some women who are unhappy with their breasts, having a lift at a young age is still worthwhile.Best regards,
Thank you for the question. If you are considering having children in the near future, it would probably make sense to wait. Your breasts will most likely change and there is no way to predict exactly how much pregnancy/breast feeding/weight fluctuations will affect them. It's really a personal choice if you wish to undergo the surgery now. Keep in mind you may have to have them revised after having children. Good luck!
It is likely that your breasts will sag a bit after pregnancy after they become engorged and settle down. Best of luck with your decision to move forward.
As a Mother and a board certified plastic surgeon, I advise my patients to have their children prior to surgery. Pregnancy and breast feeding will change your breasts. Best wishes!
There is a good chance with weight gain and/or after breast feeding the appearance of the breast may change. There is not a definite answer to this your question because it really depends on the individual. If there is excessive weight gain there is a higher chance the breasts will sag after childbirth.
In my experience, insurance will pay for a breast reduction, but not a breast lift.A breast reduction is different because it involves removing a significant amount of breast tissue.A breast lift, on the other hand, primarily removes excess breast skin.Typically, a breast lift is considered a...
Many women undergoing a breast lift have benign cysts in their breasts. This should pose no problem as far as the procedure or the recovery is concerned. If possible, it may be beneficial to have this cyst removed at the time of your augmentation. For the best results seek the consultation of a...
