When can I start wearing deodorant? (photos)

Question

I just left my second post op where my PS removed my last tummy drain (yay) and I forgot to ask him. I got a breast lift and breast implants inserted via the inframammary crease and I wanted to know when I can start wearing deodorant. The incision goes back kind of far and I don't want to start sweating and have the deodorant spread onto the incisions so it irritates them, etc. Thanks.

Thank you for your question and photos. You can wear deodorant and just make sure to not get any in your incisions.

Congrats on you recent surgery!  It should be safe to start wearing deodorant again now, just do not get it on your tape or incision.  It is always best to ask your physician about any concerns you may have.  Good luck in your recovery.

I personally don't see any contraindication to using a deodorant but if you're concerned about your incisions make sure you clear this with your own surgeon.

Few issues here. First, we responders really do not know exactly your surgical history and timing. Plus each of us, surgeons, have differing postoperative protocols... Secondly, in the time for you to sign in and open a RealSelf account and post the question and photos you could have CALLED your surgeon's office to ask this deodorant use question... I tell my patients after 10 days but please DO NOT follow my over the internet suggestions...I left a message at your chosen surgeon's office to contact you concerning this post operative issue...

You can use the deodorant from the first 24 hours post op. What you need is to be in an environment of no heat so you do not sweat.

You may use deodorant at any time.  Your incisions are far enough away that you need not be concerned.

Congratulations on your surgery. Wearing deodorant should not interfere as long as you avoid your incision areas.  Of course it is always best to check with your surgeon for specific instructions.

Congratulations on having undergone the mommy makeover surgery. I would share your concerns when it comes to having deodorant contact the healing incisions. Therefore, I would avoid deodorant until you have it cleared its use by your plastic surgeon. You may find that “baby wipes” help keep  the underarm areas… clean.
