Can someone with young onset parkinsons disease with mild symptoms be considered for a tummy tuck and breast augmentation?

I am 29 and likely have yopd. Mild dystonia and tremor along with nonmotor symptoms. Only medicated with toprol xl for tachycardia because thus far I do not want to take requip! Does having a neurological problem like this prevent elective surgery? I dont want to waste time or money on a consult if it is pointless to go...

If you get medical clearance, the surgeries could be considered.  I
would search for the board certified plastic surgeon who you feel is
most likely to give you the best results and who performs hundreds of
these procedures each year. I would look at patient reviews as well as

I would check with your neurologist, but I see no problem.  I tell women that I know what we do is not curing cancer, but the stuff we do is still VERY IMPORTANT to women!  So if you accept that elective plastic surgery does good things (for a lot of people at least), then why should you be denied? Good luck!

There is no reason not to proceed with a mommy makeover.  Certainly, this is something you should discuss with your neurologist as well as plastic surgeon.

Good question. As long as your neurologist signs off on in as safe and the anaesthesiologist is comfortable giving you an anaesthetic there is no reason you shouldn't be able to have these procedures done safely. Best of luck!

I don't think your condition would necessarily prevent you from having elective surgery but I would suggest you discuss the issue with your neurologist and family physician to ensure they all feel it is reasonable.  They would be in a better position to comment on your specific health condition.

Yes you are a candidate for a consultation for surgery.   Your surgeon will discuss the plan with your neurologist who will make recommendation and "clear" you for surgery.  Good luck.

I am sorry to hear about the neurologic disorder especially at your young age. I would suggest that you express your desires/questions directly with your neurologist. Doing so, should give you a good idea of whether proceeding with surgery is a good idea or not;  then, you will be able to proceed to plastic surgical consultations with this information in mind.  Your neurologist will likely have recommendations regarding perioperative management of medications etc. for your plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist. Happy new year!

Yes, it would be possible for you to be considered as a candidate for tummy tuck an breast augmentation.  Let both your neurologist and your plastic surgeon know about your surgical plan/medical history.  Make certain they are both comfortable with your proceeding with the surgery.
