Which procedure would help minimize the appearance of 7 month old arm lift scars? (photo)

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. Thank you for the question and the photos.
Unfortunately scars are permanent after surgery but they do fade over time. It does take a full year for the final wound healing to be completed.
Silicones scar sheets or silicone scar gel can help minimize scar appearance. Another way to improve the scars further is to perform laser scar treatment which can be easily done at the office under local anesthesia.

Typically scar revision which involves excising old scars is not performed until the scars are at least a year old. In the meantime you can consider laser treatments or potentially steroid injections to improve the appearance of the scars. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.
