hello all... Since yesterday I have bad itching over my abdominal area and rashes.. tried putting some cetphil moisturizer but no relief..... Also i wake up midnight feeling numbness and pain in my left hand.. using sports bra for support.. still sleeping on my back with head and legs elevated. Any suggestion

Hello. Great question. I am sorry for your post op difficulties. I will suggest scheduling a follow up appointment with your surgeon to determine the cause of your allergic reaction.

It is not uncommon for patients to have a allergic reaction to the surgical tape/glue applied to the skin post surgery, pain medications, or even from surgical garments (if you were given one). I advised my patients take a no drowsy antihistamine to help subside the itching and a hydrocortisone cream can be used ,avoid applying it to the incision or any raw areas. Have your surgeon examine the irritated area to provide you with a protocol for treating the skin irritation. Thank for your question

The itching may be irritation from your garment if you are using one, an allergic reaction from a medication or something else.  The numbness in your hand is not typical.  Contact your surgeon for an evaluation to determine the appropriate treatment.
