My doctor's technique for cheekbone implant include an incision by the lower lash line. Is this a typical technique?

I have very flat almost negative looking cheekbones that bother me badly. I'm looking to do cheekbone augmentation with chin and jaw implants as well. I'm quite nervous about the idea of having a scar near my eye though as I'm only in my mid twenties. Also cheek filler has always dissolved quickly and I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

Hello, hope you are well. There are many different shapes and sizes of cheek implants. If the implants are designed for the tear trough area (infraorbital rim implants), then an eyelid incision is necessary. Some implant designs can be placed through a transconjunctival incision instead of a subciliary (skin) incision. In most other cases, cheek implants are placed through small incisions on the inside of the mouth. I recommend you communicate your concerns with your surgeon before proceeding with the surgery.

All the implants that you mention can be placed through intraoral incisions and no skin incision is necessary. Custom implants can be used as well. Silicone implants offer a permanent solution.

Hello - it can be done many different ways.  I do these through the inside of the mouth, in the office, in about 20 minutes and you can then go off with no bandage.
