Doctors comfortable with Sickle Cell SC patient?

Question

I've been wanting a bbl & breast augmentation for about 4yrs now. I have sickle cell sc, my hemoglobin is usually a 9. I haven't had any crisis for 7yrs & keep up with my health for the most part. Yet I'm still having trouble finding a doctor that's comfortable with performing the procedure. Can anyone point me to a couple doctors that don't mind? ..I am open to even doing an "awake" procedure.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your hematologist prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Most likely that the plastic surgeon will ask for a medical clearance. I recommend you to schedule an email or Skype consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

I'm definitely comfortable with doing the procedure. You will likely need to take some iron supplements after surgery to bring your hemoglobin back up to 9.

How does your hematologist feel about you having elective surgery.

I don’t blame other plastic surgeons for being cautious considering a sickle cell crisis could cause some pretty serious complications including death.

You will for sure need to get clearance from your hematologist so do that first then continue having in person consultations with local plastic surgeons who have good reputations for these procedures.
